• The city of Rimini, from the centre to the Riviera, will become an open-air gym in the name of inclusiveness thanks to the contribution of companies and associations Rimini (Italy), 22nd May 2023 - More than 240 events have been programmed for the first edition of RiminiWellness Off, the fitness, wellness and sports Off Show, organised by Italian Exhibition Group and Rimini City Council in conjunction with RiminiWellness. From Thursday 1st to Sunday 4th June, the historic town centre and the Rimini Riviera will be transformed into a huge open-air gym, thanks to a packed programme of events, courses, lessons, talks and initiatives based on the four key dimensions of a quality life: physical exercise, nutrition, mental wellbeing and preventive medicine.
The presentation press conference was held today at Rimini City Hall in the presence of Jamil Sadegholvaad, Mayor of Rimini, Moreno Maresi, Rimini Councillor for Sport, Corrado Peraboni, CEO of Italian Exhibition Group, and Luigi Angelini from Wellness Culture Lab and RiminiWellness Off Coordinator.
The collaborative programming of RiminiWellness Off was conceived and organised with the aim of involving local residents and guests, giving everyone the chance to find the activity best suited to their physical condition and level of preparation. From children to grandparents, from beginners to athletes, everyone will be able find several activities suited to their own needs on the programme and personally experience the benefits of exercise.
´Rimini and Romagna,´ explained Rimini Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad, ´are determined to start again after the terrible flood that has devastated our land. In these days of pain and fatigue, all the willpower, optimism and determination of the people of Romagna and their innate inclination to confidently look ahead, have emerged. It is with this spirit that we are preparing to host one of the main events on the trade show calendar, a highly appealing event that marks the opening of the summer season and that this year will be even further enriched by an ´Off Show´ that will bring the show´s energy to many parts of the city. An energy that we need now more than ever.´
´This year RiminiWellness is The Wellness Experience Show,´ said Italian Exhibition Group CEO, Corrado Peraboni, ´because it is full of new initiatives, all to be experienced, both at the trade show and within the territory with RiminiWellness Off. An area that, from 1st to 4th June, will welcome the tens of thousands of enthusiasts and operators we are expecting, with the enviable hospitality for which it is famous. We are talking about exhibitors, delegations and visitors from more than 70 countries, highlighting the increasingly international character of the event. We will have 300 exhibiting brands spread over 170,000 square metres, indoors and out, more than 200 hours of training and conferences, 1,500 hours of physical activities.´
´RiminiWellness Off is a cultural and social project,´ declared Luigi Angelini, President of the Wellness Culture Lab Association and coordinator of the event, ´that allows people to concretely experience the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle with the aim of making it part of their everyday routine and thus improving their quality of life.´
Thanks to involving the area´s extraordinary wealth of wellness, health and tourism professionals, a programme has been compiled that covers the entire city, from the Sea Park to the Square on the Water at Ponte di Tiberio, from the ´Sandro Pertini´ Park to the beach, and from Torre Pedrera to Miramare.
The programme will give ample space to inclusiveness due to the efforts of numerous sports associations specialised in sports for those with disabilities that will create an event within the event by proposing a series of wheelchair tournaments in various disciplines, such as basketball (at the playground in Piazzale Kennedy), padel (at the Sun Padel in front of Beach Establishment 27), swimming, rugby, sitting volleyball and Paralympic fencing.
Sport and Health, the Ministry of Sport´s company whose mission is to spread the practice of sport among the population, has also decided to attend RiminiWellness Off by setting up a 1,000-square-metre sports village that will be open in Piazzale Fellini for the entire day on Saturday 3rd June, giving everyone the chance to try out dozens of different sports.
The square on the water at Ponte di Tiberio will be enlivened by Technogym, which in addition to offering free physical activity every day guided by its trainers, on Saturday 3rd June will also be organising three different night-time Group Cycling (spinning) raids with the ancient Roman bridge providing an extraordinary backdrop. Technogym activities must be booked in advance by downloading the free Technogym App.
Equally significant is the Fluxo proposal, which combines the traditional summer programme with numerous training sessions at the Belvedere in Piazzale Kennedy. There will be an extra two special events: on the morning of Friday 2nd June, a skate along the Sea Park from Piazzale Kennedy to Beach Establishment 55 and back and, at dawn on Sunday 4th, a run, again along the Sea Park, starting from Piazzale Boscovich.
Not forgetting the undertakings of Riminiterme with a programme dedicated to the over-60s, Visit Rimini and all the proposals of the beach establishments, tourist committees and dozens of sports associations, which make up the largest Wellness community in Italy.
The talk ´Obesity Off. From mind to body, prevention and treatment´, scheduled for Friday 2nd June from 6 pm in the garden of PART in Piazza Malatesta, will be of exceptional cultural value. A unique opportunity for anyone interested in the topic to hear what the figures involved in the battle against obesity have to say: doctors, psychologists, pharmacists, nutritionists, trainers and patient management specialists. A moment of open debate enriched by first-hand accounts of those who have won their battle and those who are still fighting.
