IEG: FROM ECOMONDO´S EXPERIENCE TO THE CHENGDU ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION EXPO (CDEPE), GREEN TECHNOLOGY IS THE KEY PLAYER OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS

Appointment in China, at the Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center in Chengdu, from 21st to 23rd March

Chengdu, 20th March 2019 - The international green economy business is heading for Chengdu. Thanks also to the commitment of Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), the capital of Sichuan (southwest China) is preparing to welcome an increasing number of Chinese and international enterprises and buyers of the circular economy and green technology. In fact, the 15th edition of the Chengdu Environmental Protection Expo (CDEPE, 21-23 March), organized by Europe China Environmental Exhibitions (ECEE), the company founded by organizer Xin Zhong Lian Exhibitions and EAGLE - Europe Asia Global Link Exhibitions, IEG´s special-purpose entity which last September acquired 60% of the expo, is opening tomorrow.
CDEPE is famed for being the largest environmental protection expo in Western China and the link between Southwest China and the world of green technology.

The 2019 edition will count on the expertise of Ecomondo, IEG´s leading European expo on circular economy and sustainable resources (the next edition of which is being held at Rimini Expo Centre from 5th to 8th November 2019, https://en.ecomondo.com) and for the first time will present the public its new format of international platform for the green technology industry in Southwest China, with the support of the Sichuan Environmental Protection Industry Association, one of the most important industry associations in the Sichuan province.

Waste management, water management, clean air, environmental efficiency and remediation will be the main issues that CDEPE 2019 will cover from a global point of view, with the involvement of the major Chinese and Italian institutions.

Among the culminating events of the 2019 edition, the China Ecology and Environment Forum will attract the attention of the sector´s experts. Organized with the support of the Italian Ministry for Environment, Land and Sea and the support of Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing, it will highlight the topic of ´Economic Development and Protection of Environment and Ecology along large river basins - Yantze River´ (the Yangtze river, the third longest in the world, has led China´s economy throughout its history).
The forum will be held simultaneously with the World Water Day (22nd March) and foresees two plenary sessions.

The opening plenary session, co-organized by the Sichuan Environmental Protection Industry Association, will feature speeches by Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the Italian Ministry for Environment, Land and Sea and newly appointed director-general of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Davide Castellani, Vice Consul General of Italy in Chongqing, Li Yuedong, Vice Director General of Sichuan Environmental Protection Bureau, Yi Bo, Vice Director General of Chengdu Environmental Protection Bureau, Fan Yuansheng, President of China Association of Environmental Protection Industry (CAEPI), Wan Bentai, Former Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Paolo Bazzoni, Chief Representative and Board member of the China Italy Chamber of Commerce, Zhang Yong, President of Chongqing Environmental Protection Industry Association and Xie Tian, President of Sichuan Environmental Protection Industry Association.

The scientific plenary session, co-organized by the Sichuan Environmental Sciences Society, will be opened by Lorenzo Gonzo, scientific councillor of the General Consulate of Italy in Chongqing, and Fengu Hu of China Water Risk, primary ONG at Asiatic level, with the report ´No Water, No Growth – Does Asia have enough water to develop?´, to Antonio Lo Porto of the Water Research Institute (IRSA) and Italian representative on the China Europe Water Platform and to Bernd Manfred Gawlik of the JRC – Joint Research Center of the European Commission.

This will be followed by a panel discussion, coordinated by Chen Weigu, Vice President of Sichuan Environmental Sciences Society (academic organization linked with the Government of Sichuan), among international level experts, such as Professor Francesco Fatone of the Marche Polytechnic University, Tiberio Daddi of the Sant´Anna School of Advanced Studies, Uwe Weber of EU-Korea Climate Action, Marco Ricci of the Italian Composting and Biogas Association (CIC), Professor Chen Hongbin and Professor Kan Baoguang from Tongji University and Chen Tongbin from Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Subforums will involve other key Chinese organizations, among which All-China Environment Federation (ACEF) and Chongqing Renewable Energy Society.

The new edition of CDEPE will feature the participation of a number increasing of international enterprises high-tech products and innovative contents, among the key players of over 400 exhibiting and represented companies in a gross exhibition area of approximately 30,000 square metres. The exhibiting firms will include a collective of Italian and European firms, some already trading in China and others at the expo for the first time, to assess the market and eventual business opportunities. These include: CIB Unigas SpA, Jcoplastic SpA, Labiotest Srl (Luci Group), Pedrollo SpA, OWAC Srl, Veolia Water Technologies Italia SpA.

For the international exhibitors an exclusive online business match-making platform has been realized, a promotional platform of B2B meetings that enables to facilitate the organization of meetings with selected Chinese buyers in order to meet requests for technology and know-how supply and demand.
