Green fair
Italian Exhibition Group has added ISO 20121 certification to its abundant list of environmental firsts. The certification regards Rimini Expo Centre, Vicenza Expo Centre and the Ecomondo event. In 2023, Rimini´s Palacongressi will also be certified.
ISO 20121 certifies an activity designed and carried out with respect for economic, social and environmental aspects. It involves taking a long-term and balanced approach in exercising economic activities, environmental responsibility and generating social progress.
Best practices introduced in recent months include the removal of carpeting from the aisles inside the halls (where the layout makes it possible), with an environmental saving of over 140 tons of carpeting per year; the collection and recovery of cigarette butts; further electric car recharging stations; easy access for the disabled; an increase in installed photovoltaic power; involvement of all local stakeholders.
Italian Exhibition Group embarked on its environmental sustainability path on the day the new exhibition centre was inaugurated in 2001.
Starting with the prestigious international European Landscape Contractors Association (ECLA - Nuremburg) award for Green Building, IEG has also obtained ISO 14001 Environment certification, ISO 450001 occupational health and safety certification and GBAC Star Global Biorisk Advisory Council certification.
The Expo Centre features 1,500 plants irrigated by surface water, the light in the halls is supported by 850 LED projectors that save 120 tons of Co2 emissions and 360,000 Kwh per year. Photovoltaic systems guarantee the production of 8.5 million Kwh of clean energy, enough to make all IEG´s Italian premises self-sufficient. Water recovery saves 23 million litres, all fountains run on recirculated water. The underground ice bank contributes to cooling the air, halving consumption. The indoor railway station is used by 20 per cent of visitors and reduces traffic flows; there are currently 7 electric recharging stations for cars and motorbikes.

The industrial plan and investments
Italian Exhibition Group´s development is outlined in its Strategic Plan 2022-2027, summarised by the claim ÔCommunity Catalyst´, which defines the company´s growth perspective.
Progression envisages reaching a turnover of 267.2 million in 2027, exceeding that of pre-pandemic year 2019 already in 2023.
